Connection Before Correction — CPD Bundle (Face-to-Face + Teams)
I made this because too many INSETs say “connection before correction” and then immediately crack on correcting. This is the version I wish I’d had: simple, editable, and full of things you can actually say on Monday.
Take it, use it, make it yours.
what you’re getting
- Two slide decks (PPTX): one for a room, one for Teams/remote.
- Facilitator notes (DOCX): plain-English scripts, how to handle pushback, and the bridges between slides so it actually flows.
- One-page cheat sheet: Regulate → Relate → Reason, quick language swaps, natural vs logical consequences, and what “repair” looks like in real life.
- DIY task ideas: run activities live without needing to print anything.
what it helps with
- De-escalating without dropping standards.
- Swapping “heat” language for calm, boundary-holding language.
- Choosing consequences that teach (natural/logical) instead of punish for the sake of it.
- Spotting and building repair on purpose.
how to use it
It’s written for ~60 minutes, but you can shrink to 45 or stretch to 90.
Everything’s fully editable (PPTX/DOCX) — add your logo/colours and your own examples.
little notes
- Yes, there might be pushback on a few slides. Good. The notes tell you what to say when that happens.
- No rainbows, no Comic Sans. Just stuff that works.
- It’s free. If it helps, brilliant. If not, you’ve lost nothing but a couple of clicks.
